Joe gifted

[Artist Collection]

Atlanta-based rapper Joe Gifted embarked on his musical journey under the alias Joe Gutta, a name reflective of his resilience amidst adversity. Born Joseph McLester III, he initially pursued athletics as his avenue to success, but tragedy struck with the loss of his father, prompting a shift from high school football to the world of rap where he could pour his raw emotions into lyrical expression.

Beginning his recording endeavors as Joe Gutta in 2009, McLester's path took a fortuitous turn when he crossed paths with Moodswing Productions' founder Gary Smith, leading to a pivotal signing with the label. Infusing his style with elements reminiscent of both T-Pain and Young Thug, he embarked on a prolific journey, releasing a series of mixtapes such as "Who Hotter" and "Puttin on Shit," both skillfully curated by DJ Scream. In a transformative move in 2015, McLester shed the "Gutta" persona, adopting the more affirmative alias "Joe Gifted" with the release of his eponymous mixtape. This marked the beginning of a new chapter, further punctuated by projects like "Diamond in the Ruff" and its sequel "Diamond in the Ruff 2.0," both masterfully produced by DJ Swamp Izzo.

2016 saw the unveiling of the "Finally Free" mixtape, boasting collaborations with notable artists such as Big Ben, Yung Ralph, Skooly, and Strap Da Fool. In a testament to his evolving artistry, McLester made waves in 2017 with the Migos-inspired single "Water," securing a landmark deal with Warner Bros. Records, signifying a new era of growth and promise in his musical odyssey.
